July 12, 2024: GlobeScan Sustainability Leaders Survey 2024 has ranked Tata Group No 1 on Sustainability in Asia Pacific. The Group leads peers like Swire, Mahindra & Mahindra and Samsung by a significant margin. ‘Integration into business strategy’, ‘demonstrating impacts’ and ‘focusing on supply chains’ were the top three drivers for recognising companies as leaders, demonstrating Tata Group’s strategic focus on sustainability.
Globally, corporate sustainability leadership continues to be defined by companies such as Patagonia, Unilever, Natura & Co., IKEA and Interface. The survey also highlights climate change, biodiversity loss, deforestation and water scarcity as the most urgent sustainability challenges facing humanity today. Furthermore, legislation promotion has been viewed as the most positive development in the past year, followed by new sustainability disclosure standards.
Mr. Chacko Thomas, Group Chief Sustainability Officer, Tata Sons, said, "We are very thrilled that the Tata Group has been recognised yet again as a leader in integrating sustainability into business strategy within the Asia Pacific region. It is a testament to our companies' concerted efforts towards protecting the planet and giving back to communities. I believe that this is just the beginning of a very significant journey the Group has embarked on with project Aalingana. While recognising the road from being an APAC leader to being recognized on the world stage is going to be arduous, this recognition serves as a first milestone for us. And I am confident that with the efforts that are underway across the Group, will soon be featured among not just South-Asia's best, but the global best."
