Tata Power Delhi Distribution becomes a 100 percent RPO Compliant discom

  • Meets compliance through the purchase of physical power and RECs
  • Sources more than 2000 MUs of green power

New Delhi, August 11, 2022: Tata Power Delhi Distribution, the power utility that supplies electricity to a populace of over 7 million in North Delhi, becomes a 100 percent RPO Compliant discom for the second consecutive year. The company sourced 2200 million Units (MUs) of green power from renewable sources like Solar, Wind, Hydro and Waste to Energy, including large hydro sources and fulfilled Renewable Purchase Obligation (RPO) for FY’2021-22 through physical power. This is approximately 25 percent of total units sold to consumers by the company in its operational area.

This compliance is in line with its commitment to the environment and has made tremendous efforts to meet the Renewable Purchase Obligation. After discharging this obligation the second time in a row, Tata Power Delhi Distribution has become a fully RPO-compliant power distribution company.

Ganesh Srinivasan, CEO, Tata Power-DDL, said, “In line with the company’s vision for a greener tomorrow, we are extensively promoting the usage of green power and embracing sustainability. We are aligned with the government’s vision of becoming an energy-secure nation and attaining a greater share of energy requirements from renewables by 2030. We have made adequate tie-ups for meeting the future RPO targets as well and are looking at enhancing our green energy portfolio to 50 percent by 2027.”
