Singapore: The 13th edition of Tata Crucible Campus Quiz Singapore, one of the highest-rated campus quizzes in the country, witnessed a participation of 82 students battling it out to win the coveted title. Rutwik Vishwamitre and Maulik Jain from the National University of Singapore won the championship in a nerve-wracking final to take home the prestigious trophy. The first runners-up were Shalini Gupta and Harshita Garg from the Singapore Institute of Management, and the second runners-up were Andre Wong and Nicholas Koh from Yale-NUS College.
Vikram Nair, Member of Parliament, Singapore, was the chief guest at the event held at Shine Auditorium. He felicitated the winners with the Tata Crucible Campus Quiz Singapore 2019-20 trophy and the prize money of SGD 7000*.
Addressing the students, Vikram Nair said, “Tata Crucible Campus Quiz encourages to learn more and more. Don’t be afraid of making mistakes. If we don’t make mistakes, then (we) never learn. Learn from mistakes and keep learning, and try to do new things. Do something different and give back to community.”
This year, questions for the Tata Crucible Campus Quiz Singapore 2019-20 were interestingly built around the current business environment — Industry 4.0. The five rounds were labelled in a unique manner — Ahead of the curve (covering innovation), Show the way (covering leadership), etc, including Simply Singapore, a specific round on questions related to Singapore. Well-known quizmaster Giri Balasubramaniam, aka ‘Pickbrain’, engaged the participants on a host of topics, testing their knowledge and ability to think analytically, creatively and swiftly.
Expressing his happiness, the national winner Rutwik Vishwamitre from the National University of Singapore said, “The Tata Crucible Campus Quiz Singapore edition is a highly prestigious annual event of competitive quizzing that is enthusiastically contested by hundreds of university students in the country. One of the highlights for us was the quizmaster, Giri Balasubramaniam, conducting the quiz in his trademark interactive and suspense style. The questions were excellent and the lateral thinking involved in certain questions was well set up.”
The winners and first runners-up of Tata Crucible Campus Quiz 2019-20, Singapore edition, will be invited to the international finale of Tata Crucible Campus Quiz to be held in India in 2020.
