Tata Power Delhi Distribution (Tata Power-DDL), a leading power distribution company serving a populace of 7 million in the national capital, has been honoured with the prestigious Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) Award for Excellence in Financial Reporting for the financial year 2019-20. The annual report and financial statements of Tata Power-DDL for FY2019-20 have been adjudged as winners in the ‘Gold Shield’ category.
The award was received by Hemant Goyal, chief financial officer, Tata Power-DDL, from Arjun Ram Meghwal, Union Minister of State for Parliamentary Affairs, Water Resources, River Development and Ganga Rejuvenation, Government of India, at the coveted award ceremony.
An eminent jury chaired by Dinesh Kumar Khara, chairman, State Bank of India, and esteemed members from various sectors selected Tata Power-DDL after carefully reviewing the accounting practices adopted by the organisation, the policies adopted for disclosure and presentation of financial statements, and other information contained in the annual report.
The Research Committee of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India has been holding the annual competition for the ‘ICAI Awards for Excellence in Financial Reporting’ to promote better standards in the preparation and presentation of information in financial statements. The awards are given in seven categories of business and other areas.
Speaking on the achievement, Hemant Goyal said, "We are extremely delighted to receive this honour, which is one of the most prestigious awards in the category. I believe robust financial reporting not only helps an organisation but also fuels the economic growth of a nation, and we are thankful to ICAI for recognising and honouring our efforts towards achieving the same.”
Tata Power-DDL has won several national and international accolades for its pioneering efforts in power distribution reforms, including national awards for 'meritorious performance in the power sector', 'promotion / facilitation for roof-top solar', etc.
